  • I engage with the deeper levels of knowing already within a person, currently not in awareness. This is achieved by exploring cues present in the body or imagination that, when ready, are brought forward into consciousness. In this way, it is a way of drawing on inherent, unutilised wisdom the person already holds.

  • I am trained in Processwork, which is a type of Jungian depth psychotherapy that utilises cues present in the body to access unconscious processes via the imagination. Additionally, I work with directly perceiving communications from the body. I do this by helping people cultivate a particular type of awareness that enables access to their own body’s intuitive knowing.

  • My approach is suitable for most people seeking to make changes in their life. I help people who have depression, anxiety and other mental health symptoms through to making people making big life changes or working on themselves. I work with people at all stages of life. All that is required is the motivation to understand yourself.

  • The philosophy at Noetic Counselling is that there is more to us than we realise. By bringing the aspects of ourselves currently out of awareness into consciousness expands our understanding of ourselves and enables a deeper understanding of why we do the things we do. It is from this place of understanding, that people can compassionately make long lasting, meaningful change. Changes chosen consciously rather than continuing to repeat old patterns that no longer serve.

  • I work with trauma very carefully. First, by exploring what would be required of me as the therapist to demonstrate that I can be trusted. This needs to be constantly revisited as the process continues. I must prove my trustworthiness each step of the way. Then, I encourage people to work with their trauma as layers, like that of an onion. By working with the outside layers first then by moving inwards, layer by layer, towards the core of the trauma. Only when a person is ready would I work with the trauma directly.

  • I treat anxiety and depression as symptoms of a deeper problem. So, like there can be many causes for a headache (Such as dehydration, influenza or physical impact) anxiety and depression are treated differently depending on what is causing them to appear. I see both anxiety and depression as bodily processes that need to be listened to and comprehended. Normally, a type of deep compassion is required so that a person can turn towards these processes and listen to what is needing to be expressed. By listening properly to what the anxiety or depression has within it, the different feelings can be worked through and then released.

  • Yes. Body symptoms such as pain or sickness can be worked with via the body awareness techniques I use. Often, symptoms are reduced to a manageable level by working with the symptom as a form of bodily expression. It really depends on the symptom and what is causing it though. If you are wondering about body symptom work, it may be best to contact me first to discuss whether my approach may help.
